Contractors continue to put their head in the sand on this issue. Temporary Works Co-ordinators are not being appointed and those that are may not be deemed competent. Consider this: If you are a site manager who makes a ‘calculated’ change on a product, a spec or design regardless of how small or insignificant it may seem you are legally classified as a DESIGNER.
Our main offenders are Quantity Surveyors who make decisions to save money, deal with lead in times etc. and act outside their scope. These characters are extremely vulnerable in the eyes of health and safety legislation. So the question is … what Next …. Appoint competent people – have them trained by Expert Safety!
